The Martini's
are part of a long line of professional woodworkers dating
back many generations in Europe. Adam Martini brought his
considerable Austrian-bred woodworking skills to this country
in 1956. He soon joined the firm of George Nakashima of New
Hope, PA, where he worked for 44 years. Adam was a master
craftman in the Nakashima workshop, blending his technical
know-how with an ability to make Nakashima designs a reality.
Since his retirement in 2002, Adam has been working with
his son, Hans.
The latest Martini woodworker, Hans, founded Martini's
Woodwork in 1986 after working six years part time for
the firm of George Nakashima while earning a degree at
Rutgers University/Cook College. Inspired by his time at
the Nakashima's and with the support and encouragement
of his family, Hans set up shop in a converted horse barn
where the company is still currently housed. |
